Overview - Villas Kolocep, Dubrovnik

The island of Kolocep is an enchanted natural and cultural haven that is on the doorstep of one of the most stunning World Heritage Sites in Europe: Dubrovnik. The island of Kolocep lies a distance of 1 km from the closest mainland and about same distance from the peninsula of Lapad. The port of Dubrovnik, called “Gruz” is situated at the base of the bay, requiring a 5 km journey by boat to the island of Kolocep. The island can be reached by regular ferry service “Jadrolinija” – the boats called “Postira” and “Premuda” connect the Elafiti Islands several times throughout the day. It is a 20 minutes boat ride from one port to the other (Dubrovnik–Kolocep) by ferry, or 10 minutes by water-taxi.

Accommodation

Contemporary Villas Kolocep is comprised of 8 villas, all of which are situated in front of the sandy beach in the Bay of Donje Celo. The 151 rooms in these villas were all refurnished in 2006. The villas are surrounded by tall trees and are inter-connected with stone-paved paths. Reception and the restaurant are in a separate building next to villas.
Villas Kolocep offers five different types of rooms: single, double,triple, family room and junior suite. Extra beds and baby cribs are available. All rooms are air-conditioned, with balcony, bathroom, flat screen TV, telephone, mini-refrigerator, safety-deposit box and hairdryer.
The rooms are equipped with all the latest technology too. PC Microsoft Media centre in each room (DVD reader/writer, audio/video, USB/i-link). FREE wireless access throughout the resort. FREE high-speed Internet local connection in each room (incredible 4 Mbs). Flat Screen TV with huge movie-library, video-on-demand with hundreds of movies. UMTS is also available.

Bars & Restaurants

The cuisine has an emphasis on fresh produce and seafood from local farmers and fishermen. Peaceful, colorful, intimate, elegant simplicity... are words that come to mind when describing our dining room and dining terrace with a panoramic view of the Adriatic. Our focus is on the uniqueness and variety of Croatian cuisine, as well as international specialties.

Our romantic waterfront bar and grill, Kalamota Nautica, is located at the end of the bay. This is a short walk from the hotel reception, and can also be accessed from the sea (possible docking) so it is attractive to many yachters who visit Dubrovnik and the rest of the Southern Adriatic. Guests can taste delicacies of traditional Mediterranean cuisine or enjoy innovative dishes created by our chef.

Villas Kolocep's restaurant offers a hearty breakfast buffet with organic food corner, cold and hot dishes, fruit, muesli, yoghurt and fruit juices. Varied buffet dishes for lunch and dinner are mostly based on local Dalmatian cuisine and always serves soup, fresh salad, fish and fresh fruit. A Vegetarian menu is also included. The Terrace bar and restaurant also offers a wide range of beverages, including wine, beer, coffee, and tea, as well as regional and imported spirits and liqueurs.

Sailing
ANA - Adriatic Nautical Academy, the most popular school for sailing on Adriatic is now available on Kolocep.
Transportation
There are no cars on the island. The island can best be enjoyed on foot or by riding a bicycle. Water-taxi for private excursions and visits to Dubrovnik are available every day, 24 hours a day.
Sports
Our open air hotel swimming pool is close to the beach. We also have a soccer court overlooking above the villas, overlooking the sea, providing the most scenic location for this sport imaginable. Jogging/biking trails wind alongside the bay and throughout the island, making this a perfect destination for mountain-bike rides if you prefer rugged terrain trails.
Water Sports
In addition to swimming, plenty of water-sports are available: snorkelling, scuba diving, wind-surfing, sea kayaking, riding paddle boats, beach badminton, beach volleyball, etc.

Conference Facilities

Villas Kolocep inaugurated its waterfront Meetings & Events facilities in 2006 and is able to host gatherings for up to 150 guests. During 2006 events included business meetings, industry association congresses, board of director sessions, and weddings. For smaller or more private gatherings a private historic villa close is offered.
