Overview - Ekes Konvents Hotel
The 3 star Ekes Konvents Hotel is one of Riga's most historic buildings, located in the heart of Old Riga. In 1435 this small 3 storey building was Riga's first hostel for travellers. Now tourists will enjoy a warm welcome almost 600 years later! This hotel has recently re-opened following a sympathetic refurbishment, retaining a wealth of character. Hand crafted furniture inspired by original designs grace the public rooms and bedrooms and from parts of the hotel you can enjoy views of three medieval churches, St. Peteris', St. Janis' and St. Juris'.
You will find gift shops, art galleries, bars, museums and an open-air café which operates daily in summer in the vicinity of this hotel.
Accommodation - Ekes Konvents Hotel
Ekes Konvents hotel has 11comfortable non-smoking double rooms renovated in late 18th century style. These 11 small and cosy rooms have been ornately restored, the furniture is modelled on examples of historical furniture and the rooms are adorned by ancient maps, original drawings, engravings and hand woven blankets.
The Ekes Konvents retains its impressive vaults, ancient facade and the authentic roughness of its walls. In order not to disturb guests, the toilets and showers are built into the rooms and are concealed within closets.
Guests resident at the hotel are watched over by an angel depicted on Nikolaus Ekes epitaph which art historians consider to be the most notable monument to the Mannerism Era in Latvia.
