The Senacki hotel is superbly located along the 'Royal Route' to Walwel castle. It is about a 5 minute walk to Europe's largest and most lively market square (no public executions these days but it is ringed with great outdoor and indoor restaurants). It is an even shorter walk to Walwel castle. The Senaki hotel is close to museums and churches, the latter offering classical music concerts in the evening. One with great acoustics, is located directly across the street from the Senacki hotel. We also enjoyed the rather amazing underground Rynek Glowny museum in the market square with its high tech screens and holograms. Kamieriez, a former Jewish ghetto, is also within walking distance.
There is an incredible array of nearby restaurants and shops for tourists in the Cloth hall that dominates the central part of the square as well as boutique shopping.
At the Senacki we chose a quiet room on the inside, no view but, none of the character that would have been provided by the ringing of church bells, merry makers or the sound of horse hoofs drawing carriages along Grodzki street below.
The hotel serves a lovely and varied buffet breakfast in two vaulted brick and stone rooms located below ground level. In one of the doorways you climb up 4 ancient Jurassic limestone stairs then immediately descend an an equal number of ancient stairs to enter the restaurant. There is also another restaurant at ground level overlooking the 'Royal Way" and serves meals other than just breakfast.
The staff in the restaurants and at the desk are all about friendliness, efficiency and fast service.
We certainly enjoyed our stay because we were able to walk to most everything. After long days of sightseeing, it was so nice to just step out on warm nights to spend time in the square or to walk across the street for an hour long classical concert. For others there are a variety of lively bars nearby and lots of late night shopping.
Tours can be arranged from the hotel or at the Information center nearby.

    • The Senacki Hotel in Krakow had a good location between Wawel Castle and the Main Square.  The staff was friendly and they had great lattes and pancakes for breakfast.  But one of the drapes in our room was missing, meaning the room couldn't be darkened down (even at night because of lights in the lightwell).  Also, the showerhead was coming apart so didn't deliver a proper stream of water.  So they needed to make a few repairs to meet expectations.

    • I stayed at the Senacki Hotel for three days in April.  It was a very nice place - only a three-star rating, but great service and very well decorated rooms. Would definitely stay there again.
