Our Contractor's View - Dostoevsky Hotel
A very popular hotel in the city centre. Great value for money, good availability - climate control is a real plus in the summer months as some of the older 3-star hotels miss this feature.

Thank you very much for your concern !! Very positive experience, with friendly and competent staff (which is sadly not taken for granted in Russia). Nice hotel, very clean, rooms well-equipped and heated, good selection of -international- TV programs. Shower working very well, good flow of water, cold and hot. Nice restaurant 24/24, where I managed to connect for free to the Internet through Wi-Fi !! Nice and friendly staff up there !! Good view as well from the restaurant. Parfait location right above a metro station !! But I feared the hotel was -almost- empty !! Economical crisis ?? And it was right on the long Russian holidays, with the Orthodox Christmas on 6th/7th January... Thank you again and best regards,

Dear Ekaterina,Thank you for arranging my hotels and tour of Pushkin Palace and Pavlosk Palace.Firstly; The Hotel Sokos Olympic Park is quite impressive on its layout and decor, I ate in the restaurant and the food was O.K. and the service very good. One major complaint the breakfast is obviously cooked early in the morning and later diners have to be prepared for rather stale foods in particular the bread. Most hotels have a rolling toaster were one can toast the above mentioned bread, I would think this would be a good improvement especially for U.K visitors.other than this complaint about the breakfast the rest of the hotel is first class.Secondly the Dostoevsky Hotel is showing its age and the mattress need renewing as the room I was allocated smelt strongly of Rubbing Linement and on complaint was attended to immediately. The rest of the service was first class. P.S. they have a rolling toaster. The arrangement of the visit to Pushkin Palace and Pavlosk Palace was excellant the car driver and especially the guide was exemplary her patience and knowledge was outstanding.Well done, yours HMHM, Thu, 10 Dec 2009 08:02:00 GMT

Nice hotel, have been there before and will visit again whenever in St Petersburg.
Even though our train was heavily delayed and we arrived to the hotel in the early hours next day, the service was good and smooth.
Many good restaurants in the neighbourhood, so plenty of choice there.

No bath only a shower
JF, Wed, 30 Sep 2009 12:40:00 GMT
No hair dryer
No radio
No "clear" TV channels
Air con. not working 4 out of the 5 nights
Breakfast room very crowded at 8.00am, running out of cutlery, bread roll
Good location for the sights
I understood that I had paid all taxes etc when booking the hotel but, I had a payment to make as I left
Reception - not very helpful especially around air con. problem -
Our trip was just perfect. Service at the hotel was very good. Can warmly recommend this hotel to other travelers. Please be informed that I have over 25 years experience of traveling ands working in Russia and Soviet Union so I know that good and kind service is really hard to find.
Location of the hotel is very good and the connections to the city are easy at least for me.
There was just a small negative thing and that was the temperature in the room= very hot and the air conditioning did not work at least not like it should have. But like said before I have a long experience in traveling business and remember times when the temperature in the rooms were awfully low, like 13 degrees Celsius so this time the warmth was not that bad..
