Hotels in Cuba See Sales Fall in Early 2010
Our great pricing for Cuba hotels lies in part with the hard bargaining of our contract's team - but also with weakening demand for Cuba this year, caused partly by economic downturn worldwide, and partly by a fall in visitors from Canada. We estimate that hotel bookings are down by around 5% in the early months of 2010.
Some 2.4million tourists visited Cuba last year - many of them booking hotels through Select-a-room.com . As a leading hotel agency for Cuba, we receive many requests for Cuba throughout the year.
Note: many hotels offer instant availability but as hotels get fuller, so the rooms may be sold out or placed "On Request". Hotels offered "on request" status take a little longer in Cuba - our local agent office in Cuba is closed at weekends and time differences with Cuba make communications a little slower than for other destinations. In additon, the communications infrastructure in Cuba is not as strong as in many other countries.

Some of the hotels in Havana in particular suffer from lack of investment, although many customers like this lack of sophistication. Travellers need to be aware that hotels in Cuba do not always match the standards of other Caribbean Islands. Prices offer great value for money - especially the all - inclusive resort hotels in Varadero - and a wonderful Caribbean setting. A communist ethic cannot supress the natural exuberance of the wonderful population and adds to the charm of this exotic island!

New Flights Italy - Cuba!
Air Italy kicked off direct flights to Havana on with the arrival last week at the Jose Marti International Airport of a Boeing 767 with 200 passengers on board, including a delegation of Italian journalists. The initiative constitutes the first direct connection between Italy and Cuba through that air carrier.
