Country Information
Bulgaria is a country in Eastern Europe, with a population of less than 8 million people. It is a democracy, and joined the EU on 1st Jan 2007. This step is expected to bolster the Bulgarian economy, and make it easier to do business there.
Most tourists visit the Black Sea coast, and the resorts around Sunny Beach, but there is a tourist industry in the ski resorts of Pamporovo, Bansko, and Borovets. Sofia, the capital, and Plovdiv the second city, both offer excellent facilities, and plenty to see and do. The country is steeped in history and culture. The mountains also support a summer tourist industry, consisiting of hiking and hunting in the stunning landscape.
